Badabing banda Bangs!

It has been over a year since my last haircut...whoops! So when I realized I'd have some free time this week during my spring break, I decided to look around for a place in Atlanta to style my locks.

What I was looking for:
  • A place near where I live
  • Something on the lower price end (between $35-$50)
  • A relaxed atmosphere with quality service
I pulled up Google and checked several places out but decided to go with Cortex Hair Studio because of the great reviews and its close proximity.

My appointment was with Lindsey who was instantly welcoming and really easy to talk with. She listened to what I wanted (some shape please! oh and bangs?) and delivered, spot on!

Lindsey most impressed me when I told her I had never had my hair colored and she said she wouldn't want to color my hair because its natural coloring is what people come to her to get. Every stylist I've been to in my adult life has tried to push me towards coloring, but I love my hair the color it is! It was so refreshing to have someone understand what me and my hair are about.

Lindsey is one of the newer stylist at the salon and comes at the steal of a price of $30 for a hair cut. I added a $10 tip, bringing my grand total to $40--right in my price range. Everything I've read had great reviews on the other stylists, too, who charge more for cuts based on their experience.

Overall, I was really pleased with my experience at Cortex. I got a great cut at a great price and wasn't made to feel bad at all that it had been a year since the previous one. The space they are in has high ceilings and beautiful wood floors. Parking is on the street in a residential area and I had no troubles finding a spot. The quote from Creative Loafing on the Cortex website reads, "Cortex is an upscale salon with a distinctly anti-snooty vibe," and I heartily agree with them!
