Sometimes you take a long journey only to end up right where you started. Yet, because of the journey, you gain a new perspective on the starting place. I'm sure this poorly worded metaphor could apply to many aspects of my life but the one I have in mind is dancing.
Ballet is what brought me into performance and led me to my career. As I got older I started jazz and tap classes, and in college I picked up modern. When I graduated from college, dance fell to the way side. Classes cost money and I had none. I put my day job and pursuing theatre ahead of dance. My body is now paying for it.
I've recently become invigorated in pursuing dance again. I've been to two ballet classes at Atlanta Ballet and plan to attend weekly. I can't stop thinking about it, and I am more persistent than ever that my graduate studies will have to involve dancing in some aspect.
Today I ordered some new slippers to replace mine that have a giant whole in the toe. The little princess ballerina side of myself had a hard time not adding a tutu to the order too!
