Nuance is something we all appreciate, but we are often unaware when its happening. The most recent example of nuance that makes me smile is from the new Dell commercial to the Lollipop song.
If you haven't seen this commercial watch it before continuing reading.
The point at which I can't help to smile is the stomping elephant feet. What makes this commercial delightful, in particular that part, is the attention to detail. The elephant feet stomp right, left, right, right. This part would be much less charming if the elephant stomped right, left, right, left because that would be a) predictable and b)too mechanical. By having the feet change up the patter, these detached feet gain personality and a charm.
More examples of nuance working so well in this commercial is following the elephant feet, when the computer cutters seem like they are going to loose their balance as they zoom across the screen cutting the clay into perfect rectangles. Producing the "whoaoaoaoa" effect from the audience.
I love this commercial and nuance.
